About Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue K9 Team
Our primary goal is to help save lives. We do this at no cost to requesting organizations or the communities we serve. Specially trained teams of dogs, handlers, and field support personnel, undergo rigorous certification testing and ongoing training in order to maintain their status as an active team ready to respond 24 hours a day.
We operate under the authority of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the legally responsible agency for search and rescue (SAR) in Snohomish County. We are a specialty team of Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue.
All of our team members have experience as search and rescue responders. In addition to K9 handling, team members are trained in first aid and CPR, helicopter safety, knowledge of crime scenes, lost person behavior, visual tracking, navigation, wilderness survival, and scent theory.
